Mental Health Improvement

Life sometimes throws so many challenges and stressful situations at you that it seems unfair and it’s difficult to hold on to sanity let alone keep the positive attitude. We at Uoga Uoga believe that mental health is of utmost importance in a person’s life. Sometime such a small thing as a new lip gloss can lift your mood, but sometimes you need more than this. You don’t have to go through all your difficulties alone. That is why we decided as of 2023 to give back at least 1% of our sales in Lithuania to the organisation “Pagalbos moterims linija” that supports mental health by offering a 24h/day support line for those who need it. We see ourselves as creators and we feel other creative souls. Even though we are still a small company, we try to support exciting creative evens whenever we can. In 2022 we were partners of Mados Infekcija and Manos Injekcija . Hope to continue our friendship in the future.

Minimising CO2 Emissions

We have laid out Environmental Management Plan, which overviews different aspects of our activities in light of our environmental plan, like our cleaning procedures, choice of ingredients and packaging, waste management and much more. We are committed to constant improvement. Every year we perform internal audit, we see what have been done and we put forward new goals for the next year. As a result of this process, for instance, we have launched refillable powder packaging, reduced plastic packaging over years, made our recycling procedures much more efficient.

In 2022 we started to work with Planet Positive, whose aim is to calculate our CO2 Emissions, which is a presentation of our negative impact on environment and the aim of 2023 would be to find the way how to minimise and/or offset this effect further.


We do not use animal-derived ingredients, except beeswax to produce our Kind Pirate lip balm. Our cosmetic products are not tested on animals.

Yes, all our product formulae are original, they are created and developed in-house.

Every ingredient we use can be found on the INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) list. Our products are also COSMOS Organic and COSMOS Natural certified. This means that the composition of our products, the origin of the ingredients we use, our manufacturing process, the protection of our formulae and even our packaging all meet the required standards. To ensure this is the case, an auditor conducts a thorough inspection once a year.

Yes, but due to the changes occurring in your body and the increased sensitivity during pregnancy we always recommend doing a patch test on the inside of your wrist first.

Yes. We put every effort to ensure our practices are as sustainable as possible. We have already swapped most of our plastic packaging for glass and aluminium. Did you know that aluminium is also the packaging material we use for our famous lipstick, mascara and eyelash serum, even though it looks like plastic?

We try to use recycled plastic as much as we can with the help of our partners who produce it out of plastic waste. In 2022 we introduced paper packaging which is now used for our deodorants and lip balms.

We have also designed a powder refill system which means that our customers who purchase a glass jar only need to buy a compostable refill pouch in the future. We continue to work on refillable solutions and are planning to introduce more options in due course.

We print on recycled paper and use no plastic for packaging our parcels. Our team are also great at remembering to bring their own containers whenever we get a take away lunch from one of the food outlets nearby.

We are receiving more and more questions on the use of titanium dioxide (TiO2) in some of our makeup products. We are very happy you take interest in the composition of our cosmetics and the safety of the ingredients we use – that’s exactly why we’ve created Uoga Uoga in the first place! We want to make sure we offer safe and natural products in the market that is not very well regulated.

So, what is our view on the use of titanium dioxide?

Various studies have shown that titanium dioxide does not penetrate healthy or even damaged skin (1) (2) and therefore poses no local or systemic risk to human health from skin exposure.

Most of the concern regarding titanium dioxide stems from potential inhalation exposure. However, in all cases of inhalation, we are talking of nanoparticles (i.e. very very small parts) of this mineral because only those tiny particles can get into the lungs. Research has shown that even when a cosmetic product contains nanoparticles of titanium dioxide, the particles inhaled do not reach the lungs (3). Furthermore, in November 2022 the EU General Court annulled the previous ruling on the classification of titanium dioxide nanoparticles as carcinogenic by inhalation (4).

The potential health risks around TiO2 are linked to nanoparticles of this mineral. We do not use any nanoparticles (including titanium dioxide) in our cosmetics because we comply with the standard of COSMOS Organic. In line with this standard, coarse particles of titanium dioxide are considered safe to use in cosmetics.

It is also important to remember the positive effects of TiO2. It is one of the safest and most effective mineral filters for protecting the skin against harmful sun exposure.

Allergies can be very unpredictable and often people don’t even know they are allergic to something. It is a common misconception that natural cosmetics are more likely to trigger allergies compared to synthetic products. In fact, the latter can also contain active ingredients, preservatives or fragrances which cause irritation.

Whether or not someone will experience an allergic reaction to a product they have used will totally depend on the response of the individual body. We always recommend doing a patch test on the inside of your wrist, especially if you suspect your skin might be more sensitive.
