Yes, Uoga Uoga cosmetics are natural. We use ingredients of natural origin, which are clearly listed in the INCI list. We also certify our products according to the COSMOS Organic and COSMOS Natural standards, which assess product composition, ingredient origin, formula safety, the manufacturing process, and even packaging.

We do not use ingredients of animal origin, with the exception of one product: the “Kind Pirate” lip balm, which contains beeswax.

A natural cosmetic product is made using ingredients of natural origin. The term “natural” refers to the origin of the ingredients. An organic cosmetic product is one whose ingredients (more than 95%) are organically grown and which meets strict certification standards, such as COSMOS Organic. Such products are verified by independent institutions that assess not only the composition but also the manufacturing process.

Uoga Uoga cosmetics do not contain parabens or silicones. As for fragrances, some products are fragrance-free, while others are scented with natural ingredients such as essential oils or their components. Synthetic fragrances are not used.

Uoga Uoga products are made in Vilnius, Lithuania, from formula development to the final product, except for a few individual items – makeup brushes and other accessories, lip and eye pencils, and SPF cream. These are produced in selected partner laboratories to our order and according to our strictly approved quality standards (color, performance, appearance, etc.).

Yes, all Uoga Uoga product formulas are originally developed and refined by our team.

Since we use natural ingredients, the color or scent may naturally vary slightly between different batches. This is determined by the origin of the raw materials, the harvest time, or natural production differences. Such variations are common in natural cosmetics and do not change the quality or properties of the product.

The shelf life of our products after opening is indicated on the packaging. Look for the open jar symbol (PAO) with a number of months, such as 6M or 12M. This tells you exactly how long the product can be used once it has been opened.

If there is no PAO symbol, the product can be used until the expiration date shown on the packaging, regardless of when it was first opened.

YOUR SKIN AND SAFETY

Yes, Uoga Uoga cosmetics comply with the requirements of the European Union Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009. All products are evaluated according to current EU legislation before being placed on the market. They can be legally sold throughout the European Union.

Most Uoga Uoga products undergo dermatological testing. Information about dermatological testing is provided in the description of each relevant product and marked with a special symbol (“dermatologically tested”).

Recently we have been receiving more questions regarding the use of titanium dioxide (TiO2) in some of our makeup products. We are very pleased that you are interested in cosmetic ingredients and their safety, as that is exactly why we created Uoga Uoga, to offer the safest and most natural products.

Various studies show that titanium dioxide does not penetrate healthy or even damaged skin (1), (2), so when applied to the skin it does not pose a local or systemic risk to human health.

Most concerns relate to inhalation. In such cases, the discussion concerns nano-sized particles, since only very small particles can reach the lungs. Studies have shown that, even when cosmetics containing nano titanium dioxide are used, inhaled particles do not reach the lungs (3). Furthermore, in November 2022, the Court of Justice of the European Union annulled the previous recognition regarding the carcinogenicity of inhaled nano-sized titanium dioxide altogether (4).

It is clear that the health risks being discussed are specifically related to nano-sized TiO2 minerals. We do not use any nanoparticles in our cosmetics, including titanium dioxide, as we strictly follow the COSMOS Organic standard. According to this standard, non-nano titanium dioxide is considered safe for use in cosmetics.

It is also important to remember the positive properties of TiO2, as it is one of the most effective and safest mineral filters for protection against harmful sun rays.

Yes, Uoga Uoga cosmetics can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, due to bodily changes and increased sensitivity during this period, we recommend carrying out a patch test on the inside of the wrist before use.

Allergic reactions are highly individual and can sometimes be difficult to predict – people are often unaware that they are allergic to certain ingredients. It is a myth that natural cosmetics are more allergenic than synthetic cosmetics: active ingredients, preservatives, and fragrances used in both can cause allergic reactions.

Whether an undesirable skin reaction occurs after using a product depends on the individual reaction of your body. If you suspect that your skin is more sensitive, we recommend testing the product on the inside of your wrist before application.

PACKAGING AND SUSTAINABILITY

Yes, we put a lot of effort into making sustainable decisions wherever we can. Many of our plastic containers were replaced by glass and aluminum a long time ago. We focus on using recycled plastic, which is specially made for us from plastic waste by our partners here in Lithuania. It is completely BPA-free, and even the internal coating of our aluminum tubes is made using BPA-free coating.

In 2022, we introduced paper packaging for our deodorants and several lip balms. Just like our recycled plastic, our secondary paper packaging is produced in Lithuania. Most of our packaging is printed on recycled paper, while others meet strict natural standards.

We pack all shipments without any plastic. We have also developed a powder refill system, which allows you to buy the glass jar once and then simply purchase refills. We are actively working on expanding this system and plan to offer more refill options very soon.

Sustainability is a part of our daily life, too. If our team decides to get takeaway from nearby cafés at lunchtime, we bring our own containers.

Most of our packaging is designed to be sorted and recycled, as we prioritize using materials like glass, aluminum, and paper. Once you finish your favorite product, please place the glass containers in the glass waste bin, while all paper packaging belongs in the paper waste container. Aluminum tubes and caps should be sorted into the plastic and metal waste container. This ensures they are processed and recycled properly.

Our plastic packaging is also recyclable, as it is made from sustainable sugarcane plastic. These containers should be placed in the plastic waste container, following your local sorting rules.

Yes, we offer refill solutions and constantly expand our selection. Currently, refill packaging is available for our mineral foundation powders and "Happy Ending" finishing powder, allowing you to reuse your original glass jars and reduce waste.

We are also continuously looking for ways to expand our refill range and create more sustainable solutions that help reduce packaging waste and encourage more conscious consumption.
